Thanks Rob R for sending us a photo of your weathervane in his new home. The photo is one of our Wombat Weathervanes perched atop the cupola of a gorgeous heritage home in St Lucia, Queensland. Rob needed an alternative mounting system for his weathervane because of the design of and materials used to construct the cupola. We think he did a great job of installing the vane and are thrilled that Rob took the time and effort to send us some photos. This must be the only wombat in those parts of Queensland We were contacted by a lovely lady from Claremont Council in WA and asked to submit a quote for this bespoke weathervane that was to be mounted on a fleche as per original photos. "Hi, we are currently working on a project in Perth, restoring a heritage listed 1930s building which was damaged during a fire. We would like to replica a weathervane which was damaged and removed subsequently. Unfortunately we do not have much in terms of photographs, only a couple sourced from the local library" This large vane is, of course, made from stainless steel and was a fascinating project requiring a bit of head scratching We had some fun designing, manufacturing and painting this custom made weathervane for a gentleman in Gippsland who grows and sells....wait for it! Yes, you guessed it potatoes. This was the end result - I initially painted them to be red potatoes and then found out they were to be washed white ones. OOPS. |
